FUNDING worth just over £17,400 has been awarded around nine organisations and sports clubs by Brentwood Council.
On Wednesday night the authority's Community Services Committee agreed to hand out the cash through the Brentwood Community Fund.
Among the successful groups were the Friends of Weald Park who received £2,686 for an event and drainage project for the country park in South Weald.
Other beneficiaries of the scheme include Old Brentwood Tennis Club who got £2,244 to upgrade courts at their home in Ashwells Road, Pilgrims Hatch.
Money was also given to the Brentwood 1st and Four Parishes First Responders teams who picked up £928.50 and £801 respectively for new emergency medical equipment.
