PEOPLE spotted throwing rubbish on the floor or not cleaning up their dog's mess in Brentwood will face a £80 fine.

Brentwood Council are to introduce the fixed penalties which will be lowered to £50 if paid up inside ten days of being issued.

Keith Parker, the council spokesman for the environment, said: "The vast majority of Brentwood residents take pride in their area and help to keep them clean and tidy.

"However, there is always a small number who act irresponsibly.

"Keeping the borough clean and green is one of our priorities, and being able to issue Fixed Penalty Notices and take action against those who persistently dump waste for others to clear up is an option available to help us do that."
