THE Brentwood Arts Festival is now just a little over three weeks away as it looks towards commemorating the events of the First World War.
The festival, which takes place from July 5-12, celebrates best of local art, music, drama and photography, and this year’s leans on the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Great War.
Exhibitions and events take place all over the town, with many of them free.
A selection of the free events include an exhibition at Brentwood Library showing work from the Brentwood Art Society; an exhibition and display of Lorne Road’s war graves at Brentwood Museum and a display of works from the Ingatestone and District Camera Club at Shenfield Library.
Other events include War Memoirs – an evening on letters, songs and poems by St Peter’s Players, which is £10, and the closing event of the weeklong festival The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, featuring the Hutton and Shenfield Choral Society and Brentwood Philharmonic Orchestra amongst others, with tickets starting at £12.
