A COUPLE from Brentwood are opening up their romantic garden for visitors to raise money for Saint Francis Hospice.

Judy and Adrian Cowan are welcoming garden lovers to visit their stunning work on Sunday, June 29, at their home at Little Myles, Ongar Road.

Set in three acres, the gardens features themed areas including a herb patch, an ornamental vegetable patch and the newest addition Boot Lace Bay – a coastal garden complete with beach huts, seagulls and a covered sandpit.

The couple have spent 41 years creating their garden and have held an Open Garden in support of Saint Francis Hospice for 20 years, raising in excess of £30,000 towards the medical care and emotional support the charity, which helps local people affected by cancer or other life-limiting illness.

Judy said: “Adrian’s Mum received care from Saint Francis Hospice before she died in 1987 and the nurses and everyone was wonderful and now we support the charity.

“It was so joyful to create the coastal garden and it’s so sunny and light. Everyone who sees it says it’s fun so why not come and look for yourself or you could get some inspiration for your garden.”

The gardens will be open from 11am-4pm. Entry is £3.50 for adults and £1 for children. There will be a plant stall and refreshments and homemade cakes for sale.

The couple are also opening their garden on Sunday, July 6, from 11am-4pm.
