A MAN has been arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary at a Brentwood jewellery shop.

Police were contacted at about 12.50pm on Tuesday, October 11, with reports four men on two mopeds had targeted Bonds of Brentwood, in Ingrave Road.

The suspects used axes to smash the windows and steal jewellery worth a five-figure sum.

A 23-year-old man from London was arrested this morning in south-east London and is currently in custody awaiting questioning.

Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.

The mopeds were recovered in a play area just off Cromwell Road, Brentwood.

Enquiries have established the dark silver Yamaha model was stolen from Dalton Road, Fulham, on August 19 and the gold Piaggio moped was stolen from Church Lane, east London, on August 2.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who saw two mopeds matching those descriptions travelling together in south east London and Brentwood between Monday October 3 and Tuesday October 11.
