BRENTWOOD County High School has announced the school has officially launching a pioneering sporting partnership with West Ham United Foundation.

The school, in Shenfield Common, Seven Arches Road, Brentwood has been chosen as the football hub for the Brentwood area due to an incredibly successful sports programme, fantastic facilities and a desire to work closely with our local primary schools.

West Ham United's community department is celebrating its 25th year of service in east London and Essex. To mark the momentous milestone, the Club is delighted to announce its re-launch as the West Ham United Foundation.

Local primary schools are invited to football tournament to mark the start of the partnership on Tuesday November 22 to celebrate this partnership and enhance the sporting links with our feeder primary schools in Brentwood and surrounding area.

The tournament will be for students under 11-years-old, mixed genders and will be hosted at Brentwood County High School on the school’s playing field.

The tournament will be run in a 6-a-side format and we are happy to welcome squads of up to 10 players. There will be no charge for participation in this tournament.

The tournament will start at 10am and should finish at approximately 2pm with the aim of giving primary schools time to return by end of the school day.

The event will be organised and supervised by Craig Smith who is the official West Ham United Foundation School Sports Officer permanently based at Brentwood County High School and Hannah Monk who is Primary Schools Liaison for Brentwood County High School.

In addition, current school and sixth form students from who are enrolled on the West Ham United Foundation Football Development Programme within the school will be on hand throughout the event to referee, keep scores and add support to our visiting schools.

The West Ham United Foundation Football Development Programme is a two-year, full-time education and football development programme delivered in partnership with both professional and non-league clubs.

Open to talented footballers aged between 16 and 18, the Learning Academy programme is a must for any keen footballer. A trial will be required as places will be offered based on playing ability.

Medals will be provided to all players, along with specific awards for winning either the cup or the plate competition during the tournament held at the school.

Craig Smith, Football Development Coach, at West Ham United Foundation said: “It’s been a pleasure to work within the school for the past few weeks and it’s brilliant to now see our joint efforts coming to fruition.

“This is the second partnership of its kind between WHU Foundation and Essex schools, and I’m hopeful of meeting many representatives of our local Primary Schools at the tournament.”
