Brentwood County High held an awards evening to recognise the hard work of pupils and local residents in the community, inside and outside the school.
A panel of students, parents, governors and staff selected the winners of the school's third annual Community Awards.
Headteacher Stephen Drew said: “Once again we were delighted to be able to thank some of the wonderful people who help make our community and school work.”
The winners were:
Amy Lord
While working in the café in the park during the summer holidays Amy came to the aid of a younger girl who had been injured. As adults stood by and watched on Amy took control of the situation and instructed staff to call an ambulance. She then arranged first aid and comforted the young girl until the professionals arrived.
David Tee
David is at the heart of his village community. He is a well-known ex-mayor of Brentwood and is involved in several charities and organisations in the area and is always ready to help others.
Simon Timmins
Simon gives up so much of his time to organise Scouting events such as the Essex Jamboree and helping at different organisations such as Danbury fireworks display.
Roy Dyer
Roy works very hard with Cynophobia Assistance dogs, a programme that has helped many children with extreme fear of dogs.
Air Cadets – 1483 Squadron
The Air Cadets were nominated as an organisation by a parent as it has totally changed her son’s life.
Pam Grimes / Gareth Tomey
Pam is Leader of 2nd Pilgrims Hatch Brownies and Gareth Toomey is Leader of 1st Pilgrims Hatch Beavers/Cubs and Scouts. Both of these volunteers give tirelessly of their own time on a weekly basis.
Anne Love
Anne always helps people in class as the TA.
Rebecca Marriott
Rebecca was nominated by a student after their grandmother passed away last year and she was always there to help them. She let them sit in her class at break, lunch and after school.
David Kendall
David is a local and county councillor who worked with us tirelessly to support the school's request for a formal crossing to be installed on Seven Arches Road. This in now in situ and the benefits have been seen immediately.
Janette Ballantyne
Janette is one of the most important engines of BCHS. Her commitment to the school community is second to none. She is described as "the glue that sticks our community together".
