A LOCAL car dealership is doing its part to support a team of Navy officers in a tremendous fundraising feat.

As of this morning, Chief Petty Officers Andy Gibbs and Philip White and House of Lords member James Cameron-Wood carried the Six Nations match ball delivering it by hand to the stadium officials ahead of Wales’ first game. The team picked up the keys for their support vehicle from Essex Ford in Rayleigh on February 2, without which the mission would not be possible.

Essex Ford marketing director Matt Brown said: “We continually go the extra mile to back Help for Heroes activities because we are driven by a debt of gratitude. It is important we demonstrate our thanks by aiding those whose lives are compromised by their selfless acts.”

The route was broken down over seven days covering 180 miles and the final leg into Cardiff saw the team arrive at the stadium at 11am when Wales ran out for the Captains’ Run.
