A YOUNG girl said she is scared to leave her home after being attacked in a park while in out with a friend.

Sophie Rose, 12, from Great Baddow was attacked while at the Baddow Recreational Ground last Monday.

She was left with minor injuries and later found out the attack was filmed and shared on social media.

The video shows a girl hitting Sophie and dragging her around the park while a large group of youths watch the attack.

Sophie later had a message from a friend informing her about the video and that had been shared.

She said she has been left with back pain and is too scared to leave the house incase anything like this happens again.

She added: “I am still in shock and I feel sick a lot of the time.

“When I found out that it had all been filmed I was upset and annoyed.”

Sophie and her mother went to a friend’s house to see and copy the video of the attack.

Mum Jo Rose said it makes her feel sick.

She added: “When we saw the video it made me very angry.

“I don’t know if the visual was worse or the fact I could her my baby screaming.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Police are investigating an assault on a 12-year-old girl at a recreation ground in Baddow Road, Great Baddow, at 4pm on Monday April 10.

“A 13-year-old girl has been voluntarily interviewed on suspicion of assault and enquiries are ongoing.

“Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Pc Suzanne Sinclair Chelmsford police station.”
