Chelmsford train station was evacuated this morning after a "trespass incident".

Trains through Chelmsford are experiencing at least 15 minute delays as a result but Greater Anglia have since confirmed the line has reopened and that no one was hit by a train.

A Greater Anglia spokesperson said: "Emergency services were called to Chelmsford station at 11.12am following a trespass incident. The person did not fall between the train and the platform and the person was not hit by a train.

"The British Transport Police attended and services were delayed by up to 15 minutes.

"The line reopened at 11.15am."

British Transport Police have confirmed they were called to Chelmsford station at 11.08 this morning to assist a vulnerable man who was then taken to a place of safety.

Ambulance service arrived at the scene at 11:09am and left shortly after 1pm

The ambulance service said: “We were called at 11.09 to a concern for welfare for a man at Chelmsford Railway Station.

"We dispatched an ambulance crew, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer to the scene to help.

“The patient was assessed at the scene and had suffered no injuries. They were taken to a place of safety for further help.”
