Police are investigating a number of burglaries in Brentwood where builders’ tools have been targeted and stolen.

Between 8pm on Friday, April 20, and 8.30am Saturday, April 21, entry was force into a house undergoing building work on Brentwood Road and builders tool were taken.

A similar incident occurred on Roundwood Avenue between 10.30am on Sunday, April 22, and 8am on Monday, April 23.

Again entry had been forced into the property and builders’ tools worth a four-figure sum were stolen.

Pc Paul Burnett said: “These are targeted burglaries with a focus on the theft of tools. These thefts are costly, and place a strain on the daily work of those in the construction industry.

“We would encourage workers to remove their tools from building sites overnight and store them as securely as possible.

“If anyone has any information about these specific incidents, we would encourage them to call 101 and ask for Grays CID. The reference numbers are 42/54173/18 for Brentwood Road, and 42/55214/18 for Roundwood Avenue.”
