Ever year, people are encouraged to get together for tea and cake to raise money to help in the fight against cancer.

The World's Biggest Coffee Morning has now become one of the biggest fundraising events or Macmillan Cancer Support.

It will take place on September 28 and everyone is being asked to either host their own event or attend one.

Last year, it raised more than £27 million and with your help, this can be another successful year.

Brentwood Live:

How did it all start?

The first ever Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990.

It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, the charity did it again the next year – only this time nationally.

Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £200 million for Macmillan.

How do I get involved?

Hosting your own Coffee Morning is easy. All you have to do is sign up at the website coffee.macmillan.org.uk

If you can't host one, you can find out details of where they are taking place on the website as well.

How does it raise money?

Just ask your guests to make a donation for the coffee and cake you serve.

You can also have a lot fun raising money with competitions and raffles on your Coffee Morning.

What if I can't host one on September 28?

This year, the official Coffee Morning date is September 28 but you can of course hold yours on whatever date is most convenient for you and your guests.

Can I host a Coffee Morning in another country?

Of course! That's what truly makes it the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Register online using the international registration form and you can sign up straight away.
