The Lib Dems may have underperformed in the General Election but they had a good result in the local Brentwood council vote.
The yellows picked up two seats from the Tories - Brentwood North and Brentwood West.
They also held onto two seats in Pilgrims Hatch.
The battle for Brentwood West was unbelievably close with Conservative Karen Sheehan and Lib Dem Nigel Clarke both getting 1,578 votes each.
The result was decided by drawing lots and Clarke won.
In total, 14 seats out of 37 were up for election. The Lib Dems increased their seats from five to eight. The Tories have a 29 seat majority.
