SHOP workers swapped their uniforms for colourful costumes and wigs to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.

Argos staff in Brentwood, along with fundraising volunteers from the Teenage Cancer Trust, took part in a superhero-themed national fundraiser to coincide with the launch of the new Argos catalogue.

The weekend was full of Batmen, Spidermen and Wonderwomen as the staff and volunteers had the opportunity to dress up as their favourite superhero at the High Street store.

All proceeds raised during the collections on Saturday and Sunday will support young people with cancer across the country.

Jake Robertson, store manager, said: “We had a great time and lots of customers commented on our costumes and gave generously.

“Going through cancer at any age is hard but the timing for teenagers seems particularly cruel and we’re really pleased to be supporting Teenage Cancer Trust.” Last year Argos selected Teenage Cancer Trust as its official charity partner until February 2013.
