Thousands of students celebrated the formal completion of their degrees at Anglia Ruskin University during graduation ceremonies at the Chelmsford campus.

Each student crossed the stage to mark the transition from graduand to graduate, and received their certificate from Professor Iain Martin, the Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin.

Professor Martin said: “Our graduates deserve to feel pleased and proud as they mark this important transition. It is a very special day for those receiving their awards.”

Several distinguished guests also received honorary degrees or fellowships from Anglia Ruskin, including NHS chief Clare Panniker, journalist and digital pioneer Bill Thompson, surgeon Dr Jonathan Sackier, dementia campaigner Ann Pascoe, and Hollywood post-production veteran and innovator Ted Gagliano.

Professor Martin added: “The recipients of honorary degrees are exceptional individuals with a connection to the region or the work we do here at Anglia Ruskin University. The award acknowledges their contribution to society and we hope will serve as an inspiration to our graduates as they take the next step in their lives.
