YORKSHIRE Building Society members’ small change has made a big difference to play times at Columbus School in Chelmsford.

The school, which caters for children with learning difficulties and disabilities, received a £1,368 donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation to buy a new range of playground games and sensory equipment.

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities and good causes around the UK.

Ginny Bellard, Principal at Columbus School, said: “We are very grateful for the support given by your kind members.

“The money donated has gone towards buying new sensory and play equipment for profoundly disabled children who will benefit from these specialist resources at social times and play times.”

Kathy Clark, manager of the Yorkshire’s Brentwood branch, said: “As a mutual building society we are committed to making a lasting and positive impact in the communities we serve.

“The Charitable Foundation is funded by our members and I know they would be as proud as I am to support such a worthwhile cause.

“I hope the pupils at Columbus School enjoy their new play equipment for many years to come.”

In 2016, the Charitable Foundation paid 1,813 donations totalling £554,229 to good causes and charities throughout the UK. For more information, visit www.ybs.co.uk/charitablefoundation
