A METAL framed prefabricated property has been sold at auction for £35,000.
The steel-framed property achieved the guide price at Clive Emson Auctioneers’ Essex regional sale in Chelmsford.
The building was among 148 properties in the March auction held by the property auctioneer.
Buyers from London bought the property which measures 10.5 metres by 7.5 metres.
The property has a lounge, bedroom, kitchen area and a bathroom and auctioneers say the property is much like a traditional one bedroom flat.
Paul Bridgeman, 41, auctioneer at Clive Ermerson Auctioneers in Chelmsford said: “Unusual properties such as this do not come up very often and it was no surprise it sold.
“We understand the purchaser is looking at putting it on a development plot as a site office as accommodation for the site manager.
“The property was built by a company called Bright Built, that works with low cost prefabricated buildings, “We do not see properties like this one everyday and it is relatively unique. I have never seen a prefabricated home with a steel frame.
“I think that idea behind buildings like this, which could be homes, is that there could be some kind of advantage with bills, rates or tax costs.
“I am unsure whether this would be some form or discount for council tax costs or it could even be for a discount in energy bills.”
James Emson, managing director of the auction said: “This lot is a perfect demonstration of the sheer variety of the lots we have on offer that continue to draw crowds to our auction rooms.”
