Two burglars smashed through the front door and stole tobacco from a Co-op store in Chelmsford.

The window of the shop door was smashed and the shutters forced open at the shop in Havengore at around 1.25am today.

Cigarettes and tobacco were taken.

The two suspects, dressed in black, were seen fleeing the scene on black mopeds.

A spokesman for Chelmsford Star Co-op said: β€œOn Thursday 19th October, two men broke in to our Havengore store after hours and stole a large number of cigarettes. Security of the store has now been reviewed and new shutters and doors are being installed.

We are fully supporting the police who are now dealing with the matter.”

Police are investigating following a burglary at a Co-op in Chelmsford singularly and in conjunction with an incident at a Co-op shop in Writtle on Monday, October 16.
