Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of a crash involving two vehicles on Highwood Road, Chelmsford at 11.39am this morning.

The firefighters gave first aid to one casualty, and made the vehicles and scene safe.

The casualty was left in the care of the Ambulance Service at 12:45pm.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust said: "We were called at just before 11am today to a report of a road traffic collision in Highwood Road.

"A rapid response vehicle and ambulance crew were dispatched to the scene.

"They treated a woman, believed to be in her 70s, who had chest pain.

"She was taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care."
