An Essex-based and industry leading newborn photographer recently obtained the prestigious Master Craftsman qualification with the Guild of Professional Photographers.

Jo Bradley, who shoots from her home studio in Chelmsford, was the first newborn photographer to obtain this respected accolade and is one of only two newborn photographers to hold the title in the UK.

To obtain the Master Craftsman, Jo was required to produce a photographic masterpiece. The assessment process is extremely rigorous and hence the award is granted only to photographers who can demonstrate that they deliver the very best quality of images.

The Guild of Photographers is a highly regarded national photographic body, whose members are dedicated to enhancing their skills in the art, craft and profession of photography.

Since establishing her business in 2011, Jo has developed a unique approach to each photo shoot she carries out to ensure every parent’s wishes are met. She is passionate about capturing the delicacy and beauty of the first two weeks of a baby’s life.

Jo said: “I am honoured to be the first newborn photographer to have been awarded the Master Craftsman status. I am committed to providing a truly special, comfortable experience. My service enables parents to ensure the first two weeks of their baby’s life are captured in a precious and bespoke way which can be cherished forever.”

As a mother of two, Jo understands the first days of becoming a new parent are filled with every emotion. The shoots last between two and four hours to guarantee a calm experience for both parents and the baby allowing time for breaks, feeding and changing.

Director of The Guild of Photographers Lesley Thirsk said: “I am delighted that Jo Bradley has achieved this accolade. It is only awarded to those that evidence truly exceptional photographic skill.”
