THE Countess of Wessex visited a horse sanctuary to unveil a plaque in celebration of its 35th anniversary.
Her Royal Highness Sophie Rhys-Jones was in attendance alongside the mayors of Chelmsford, Brentwood and Basildon to show support for the charity, the Remus Horse Sanctuary in Ingatestone.
She has been a patron of the charity since 2013.
During the visit, the Countess met many of the old and blind horses at the sanctuary and saw the wide range of animals it helps.
Speaking at the event, the Countess said: “Essex is lucky to have such a resource in the county”.
Sue Burton, founder of Remus Horse Sanctuary added: “It was an amazing day and we are so grateful for the Countess to take time out of her busy schedule to spend time with us.”
