A fire spread across three acres of crops yesterday in Chelmsford.
Firefighters attended the blaze in London Road, close to Hylands House, just after 2pm yesterday afternoon.
Three acres of standing corn were caught by the flames, which three fire crews, one from Great Baddow and two from Chelmsford, battled to contain.
They also received assistance from a specialised appliance called a Unimog to help them tackle the fire, which allows them to spray water while moving across off-road terrain.
The landowner also worked with crews to help prevent the flames from spreading further.
Firefighters used beaters to extinguish all remaining hotspots in the area, with the fire put out completely by 2.35pm.
