A popular shopping centre is launching an indoor beach for shoppers to enjoy this summer.

The Meadows, in Chelmsford, will be launching the attraction on August 6 and it will also offer a picnic area complete with deck chairs, benches and giant garden games, completely free for all to enjoy.

Visitors can take a break from browsing the shops and have their lunch on the picnic benches, have a go at playing connect four or make epic sand creations using the complimentary buckets and spades provided in the sand pit.

Shoppers can also take part in building Chelmsford’s biggest sandcastle on August 9 from 11am, when The Meadows is inviting the public to join them with their challenge!

Centre Manger Sue Patel said: “Our indoor beach and picnic area will be perfect for families to enjoy this August.

"We’re also very excited to bring Chelmsford together and join us as we make the biggest sandcastle in the city centre.”

Visitors to Chelmsford this summer can also take advantage of the Meadows free parking offer that launched on July 2.

Customers who spend £10 or more in the centre will be able to receive a 2 hours free parking voucher to use on their next visit at the Meadows Q Park car park.

All customers will need to do is take their receipt to customer services on the 1st floor.
