A HOSPICE is £1,000 better off thanks to a generous donation.
The Muslim Shia Ithna Asheri Jammat of Essex recently presented a cheque to Chelmsford’s Farleigh Hospice.
It is the second consecutive year the organisation has made a donation to the hospice.
Christine Hogben, Farleigh’s community fundraising manager, said: “This demonstrates how we work with people of all religions and backgrounds and adds to the diversity of our work.”
The money was raised during the Islamic month Muharram, the first lunar month of the year. It is during this month Shia Muslims hold meetings to commemorate the martyrdom of Hussain, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.
