COUNCILLORS have criticised plans to remove disabled car parking as part of a major redevelopment.
Lib Dem councillors have complained publicly about proposals to take away spaces from the car park in William Hunter Way.
The plans have come under fire from Brentwood North member Philip Mynott and Pilgrims Hatch councillor Barry Aspinell.
They are angry about the lack of public consultation, believing access to the High Street for disabled people needing to use the car park would be a problem.
Mr Mynott said: “As usual, the needs of and consultation with our residents appear to be bottom of the list for Brentwood Council.
“Ward councillors in Brentwood North have consistently been excluded by Conservative leader councillor Louise McKinlay from discussions with Stockland Halladale and such arrogant decisions are the consequence.”
A spokesman for the council said: “The council will ensure there is alternative provision, both in any interim period and for the long-term, of parking spaces for people with disabilities.”
