A NUMBER of current and classic films are soon to be screened at several outdoor cinema events in two parks in Brentwood.

Weald Park and Courage Park will be the next setting for Essex Outdoor Cinema’s screenings later this year.

There will be four screenings, two in Weald Park on June 14 and September 6 as well as in Courage Park on July 12 and August 9, with the films to be shown still yet to be confirmed.

Blockbusters such as Mamma Mia, Captain Phillips and Grease are shown in parks or fields for audiences of up to 800 people who are welcome to bring along their own food and drink.

Entertainment such as a live band is also provided before the film starts at around 6pm as well as cheap blankets and snacks.

Project manager Ben Tillson who set up the business last year and it has already proved a success in Upminster.

Mr Tillson said: “There is always a really friendly atmosphere at the screenings, there is never anyone drunk or causing trouble and we always have medics and police on hand just in case.

“We wanted to give people somewhere to go out in Brentwood not just to drink, I think people of all ages will enjoy this.”
