A DEFIBRILLATOR has been handed over to a school in Brentwood after staff were trained to use the lifesaving equipment.

Members of the Rotary Club of Brentwood who are working with cardiac charity SADS UK donated the machine to Brentwood County High.

The device is designed to be easy to use and portable with training provided by paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service.

School headteacher Stephen Drew said: "We are delighted to work with SADS to provide a defibrillator in our school to protect both our school community and the wider Brentwood community.

"We now have a group of trained staff able to respond in an emergency."
