A MAN has admitted threatening a grandfather who had been for a day out in Southend.
Raymond West, 49, of Chigwell Road, Woodford Green, appeared today at Basildon Magistrates Court.
He was initially charged with assault by beating and using threatening behaviour towards 70-year-old George Douglas on the Southend Victoria to Shenfield train service on August 23 last year.
West denied both charges at a hearing in December but today the assault charge was dropped and he admitted using threatening language with intent to cause fear and provoke unlwaful violence.
Mr Douglas had been to Southend on a day out with his family.
West has been remanded on unconditional bail before his sentencing at Basildon Magistrates Court later this month.
