BOSSES of an Essex chippie have branded the producers of The Only Way Is Essex “childish” after they threatened legal action for using a similar name.

The Only Way is Fish, on Fyfield Road, Ongar, was a sent a letter, dated May 7, from the producers of the hit ITV2 show, Limehouse Pictures.

It said the shop’s signage and branding infringed copyright. And said they must “cease and desist” from using the logo.

The letter, from the production company, added the shop had 14 days to comply with the demands - or face further action.

Chris Nelson, shop manager, said the letter was ridiculous, and that the matter was continuing while the shop decided how to proceed.

He said: “We’ve always said we’re not affiliated with the show and we have nothing in common with it. It’s just them being childish.

“It’s a waste of time for us and a waste of time for them, we’re doing no harm. We’re just being bullied.

“We’ve never gone to them or made any indication to say we’re anything to do with the show. It would have gone down a lot different if they just came to us but instead they sent a letter.”
