UKIP leader Nigel Farage is touring Essex after a successful night at the polls.
He visited South Ockendon in Thurrock before going on to drink a pint and chat to voters at the Hoy and Helmet pub in Benfleet.
From there, he went on to the Castlemayne pub in Basildon and then to Brentwood.
He said Essex was the "poster county for UKIP" and speaking to the Echo said he pleased and "not surprised" UKIP did so well in the county.
He said: "The people of Essex are very plain speaking - that's not news. We struck a chord with a lot of voters."
