CHELMSFORD has joined the rest of the county and world in support following the terror attacks in Manchester.

The suicide bomber sadly killed 22 people, including children, as an ex plosion tore through fans leaving a pop concert at the Manchester Arena on last night.

Another 59 people were also injured when the blast caused by an improvised explosive device carried by the attacker detonated at the venue.

MPs have suspended their election campaigns in respect following the event.

Chelmsford City Council flew flags at half mast over the Civic Centre in the city out of respect, today.

Roy Whitehead, leader of Chelmsford City Council said: “The attack cer tainly is disgusting and so unexpected. It was against innocent young people.

“All the staff at the city council are in shock and showed our support like many other authorities.”
