IT’S been a busy first few weeks in Parliament including my first Queen’s Speech as Chelmsford’s newly elected MP.

The sets out the priorities for the Government and unusually will be a two year plan instead of the normal twelve months.

I was pleased that three important issues for many Chelmsford residents were covered.

In the debate that followed I mentioned these in my Maiden Speech and you can find a full video of this on my Facebook page: Vicky Ford for Chelmsford.

Firstly, the speech commits to invest in the NHS and schools.

This will be paid for by the strong economy that we have built over the last seven years.

I was also glad to see additional support for Mental Health, including a new initiative to give Mental Health “first aid” training for teachers.

Secondly, the speech emphasised the need to invest in infrastructure.

On my commute from Chelmsford to Westminster I see first-hand why the current situations on our trains is just not good enough.

I will be joining fellow MPs from up and down the line to meet Network Rail and Abelio next week to discuss priorities and solutions.

Thirdly, the speech singles out key industries for development including the satellite sector.
