POLICE are appealing for information following a concern for welfare call in Pump Lane, Springfield, at around 6.20pm yesterday.

Officers were called to reports that a woman was heard shouting before a van was seen driving away towards Brackenden Drive.

The vehicle has described as a white van with a dark coloured air vent on the top, yellow and red markings on the back and writing on the site.

The woman has been described as being in her late teens with long dark hair and wore a white t-shirt.

Detective Inspector Trudi Arnold, of Chelmsford CID, said: “The member of public did exactly the right thing by calling police with concerns for a woman’s welfare.

“The incident is being treated as an isolated incident and we are currently investigating the circumstances and carrying out a number of enquiries to locate the vehicle. There may be a simple explanation to this incident but we are taking the report very seriously.”
