A man remains in critical condition in hospital with life-changing injuries after an assault in Brentwood.

Detectives, investigating the serious incident are appealing for a number of women who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

The 47-year-old victim remains in a critical condition in hospital with life changing injuries.

Officers were called to Kings Road, Brentwood at 12.45am on Bank Holiday Monday after a man was assaulted outside Murphys Sports Bar.

The man suffered a serious head injury and was treated by paramedics. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the assault and would like to hear from any witnesses who have not yet come forward.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to a number of women who were present when the incident happened.

Acting Det Insp Natalie Rooney said: “We know a number of women were present at the time of the incident and in the immediate aftermath. 

“They could hold vital information about what happened and we urge them to come forward.

"The victim of this incident remains in a critical condition with life changing injuries. If you were present at the time of this assault and have not yet come forward to us, please get in touch."

Two men, aged 22 and 24, both from Brentwood were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. They have been released under investigation.
