A total of twelve people were arrested in connection with this year’s V Festival, either on or nearby the site.

The majority of these arrests were related to suspected drugs offences. In the run up to V Festival, Essex Police worked with the event organisers – who had responsibility for safety and security at the festival site – and other partners like Chelmsford City Council on plans for the festival.

This work included assessing the level of risk around crime and disorder and well-drilled plans were in place in the unlikely event of a major incident.

In total, 60 offences related to V Festival were reported and are currently under investigation.

Of these, 43 were incidents of theft.

The majority of offences were reported after people had left the festival, on Monday, August 21.

Assistant Chief Constable, Carl O’Malley, said: “We are investigating a number of offences related to V Festival, but are pleased that the majority of those who came to Chelmsford over this weekend, did so in the right spirit and enjoyed the festival safely.

“The festival organisers were responsible for the security operation at V Festival and they liaised with Essex Police throughout the weekend.

“We were really happy that so many people spoke to our officers near the railway station, in town and nearby the site.”
