POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a man who was seriously assaults died.

Officers were called to Kings Road, Brentwood at 12.45am on Bank Holiday Monday after a man was assaulted outside Murphys Sports Bar.

The man suffered a serious head injury and was taken to hospital but sadly died on Saturday September 2.

Detectives, investigating a serious assault which resulted in the death of a man, are appealing for two women who may be key witnesses to come forward.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the assault and would like to hear from any witnesses who have not yet come forward.

They are particularly keen to speak to two women, who were seen having a conversation with two younger girls, outside the Premier Inn hotel on Kings Road at just after midnight on Monday 28th August.

They would also like to hear from anyone who may have been driving along Kings Road or parked in the area between 12.15 and 12.45am who may have captured the incident on dash-cam.

Senior Investigating Officer Det Insp Stuart Truss said: “We know that the Kings Road area was busy at the time of this incident as many people were out making the most of the Bank Holiday weekend.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has yet to come forward to us, in particular the two women described. They could hold information that is key to our investigation.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have captured the incident or its aftermath on their dash-cam or mobile phone.

“This incident has resulted in the most tragic of consequences with the victim sadly losing his life and it is imperative that we hear from anyone who has information that could help us.”
