WORKERS at an engineering firm donned their Lycra for a charity cycling ride.

Staff from the Global Marine Group, a market leader in offshore engineering, based in Boreham, completed the ride covering more than 200 miles in two days for the children’s charity Brainwave.

The group of 18 employees left Essex behind as they cycled to Portland in Dorset.

The journey began at the company’s head office in Boreham and finished at one of its regional UK depots.

The team of amateur and enthusiastic riders set off at 6am from Boreham Interchange, travelling through London and stopping off in Winchester overnight, before continuing in the morning and finishing the ride in Portland the following evening.

It was not only a personal challenge for the riders but more importantly an excellent opportunity to raise vital funds for one of GMG’s corporate charities, Brainwave.

Brainwave aims to improve mobility, communication skills and learning potential through a range of therapies for children with physical, sensory, learning, cognitive and behavioural difficulties.

The Global Marine Group wants to thank suppliers and partners who sponsored the event, including JME and Port of Blyth.
