A woman and two children have been assaulted while a man has been seriously injured during a raid on a home in Horndon-on-the-Hill.

A 21-year-old man from Hackney has been arrested in connection with the aggravated burglary in the Horndon Road area. 

In the early hours of Wednesday, September 27, a group of masked men armed with knives and firearms stormed the home.

The suspects assaulted the four occupants and stole a four figure sum of cash and jewellery. 

One of the victims, a 36-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head, arm and back. 

A 30-year-old woman and two children were also threatened and assaulted. The victims have been safeguarded. 

Police are treating it as a targeted and isolated incident. It is not believed there is a threat to the wider public. 

A man from Hackney was arrested on Monday October 2 and is currently in police custody being questioned.

An imitation firearm was also recovered.
