A man has been flown to hospital with life threatening injuries after a six vehicle crash.

Police were called to a serious road traffic collision on the A128 at the junction of the A13at 1pm today.

Three fire engines attended the collision to work with paramedics to help release one casualty trapped in their vehicle.

The casualty was released by 1.45pm and left in the care of the Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance.

Officers have closed the road to traffic in both directions at the junction with the A128 after three cars and three lorries were in collision.

Four people were injured at the scene with a man, aged in his 20s, being airlifted to hospital with life threatening injures.
