Officers from Brentwood and Epping Community Policing Team helped elderly members of the public return home safely.

On Tuesday, January 16, Sgt Simon Dear was driving past a crowd of people who were helping an elderly lady and her husband.

The public had stopped to help them after the elderly lady tripped over.

Simon put his jacket on the lady whilst an off-duty paramedic gave her the medical attention she needed.

Simon helped the lady and her husband into his police car and took them home.

The same day, PCSO Sarah Kelly and PCSO Kevin Sanderson saw what looked like another elderly couple struggling in the bad weather.

The lady informed them, that she didn’t know the man and was helping him as he’d hurt himself. Sarah and Kevin helped them both into the car and took them home. They were both given safety and medical information.

Sarah and Kevin have since returned to both residents’ houses to check on their welfare.

PCSO Sarah Kelly, from Brentwood and Epping Community Policing Team, said: “It’s nice to see members of the public coming together to help each other. We’re glad we were able to assist and make sure they all got home safely.

“Helping people is what we do.”
