Officers are searching for a woman who claimed to be sexually assaulted on a train after they caught a suspect.
At approximately 7.35pm on Friday 16 February, officers were alerted to a woman in a distressed state on board a c2c train between West Horndon and Upminster.
It is believed she had been sexually assaulted by a man.
The man was detained, and more BTP officers were called.
However, the victim left the train before she could be spoken to further.
Officers are now urgently appealing for the victim to contact officers.
A 38-year-old man of no fixed address has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and theft by finding in connection to this incident.
He has been released under investigation and enquiries are ongoing.
Anyone who was on board this train and saw what happened are also urged to contact police.
