Residents on a street in Shenfield were forced to take refuge in a shelter last night after a gas leak was discovered.
Essex Police were on Hutton Road allong with Essex fire service and Cadent Gas as it was evacuated on Sunday night,
This left residents needing to stay in the nearby Hutton Poplar Hall, which had been opened by Brentwood Council, while the emergency services dealt with the leak.
A cordon was put in place on the road while the leak was dealt with. At around 9:30pm, the situation was resolved and residents returned to their homes.

Replacement bus services for Greater Anglia were also reportedly disrupted due to the this leak.
