A GIRL from Shenfield became the 3,000th apprentice to be recruited via the Essex Apprentice Programme, a scheme run by the county council.
Paige Hughes, 18, recently started work at Allwag Promotions, a distributor of printed promotional merchandise, in Hatfield Peverel.
She said: “I think a lot of young people think the only route after school is college and then uni, but an apprenticeship is a great alternative.”
The apprentice scheme has been running for five years.
