WORK will restart on repairs to Brentwood High Street next month.
The first phase of work, focusing on replacing damaged kerbs, began in May and lasted forafortnight.
The second phase will begin on Monday, July 13, with carriageway resurfacing and block paving replacement, The work will take place during the night.
Brentwood councillor David Kendall has been calling for the works for a number of months, so is delighted to finally see them being started again.
He said: “After many months of me and others calling for action to repair the road surface and paved areas in Brentwood High Street, I am delighted that some work is finally going to be done.
“The High Street has been lookingadisgrace for well over a year and in my view has been dangerous for the many pedestrians that use it, particularly the elderly.
“I hope that once this repair work is completed in July, they will put inaproper maintenance programme going forward so we don’t find ourselves in this embarrassing situation again.”
