FITZWIMARC School held an opening ceremony for its new sixth form college.
The school, in Hockley Road, Rayleigh, held the event which was attended by local dignitaries, including local MP Mark Francois, the chairman of Rochford Town Council, Carole Weston and the vice-chairman of Rayleigh Town Council, Carol Pavelin.
Headteacher Robert Harris, said a few words, followed by the head of sixth form Steve Jolley.
Mr Jolley said: “The Sixth Form official opening was a very enjoyable afternoon.
“It was a fantastic opportunity to thank those individuals who have been involved in the project over recent months.
“I have only been involved personally this year but I am aware that there are a great many people who have been looking forward to the opening of a Sixth Form.The first few weeks have been a great success and we are looking forward to welcoming many more students in the future.’
