Dogs Trust Basildon has rehomed their 250th dog of the year; to their charity shop’s manager.

Max the Terrier Cross is just under a year old, and was handed in to the rehoming centre in Essex through no fault of his own.

When the rehoming centre took Max to Dogs Trust’s Brentwood charity shop to promote the work that they do to the community, the shop manager Violeta Garcia Redondo was working that day and fell in love with him instantly.

She said: “It really was love at first sight when I met Max. I decided then and there I wanted to adopt him.

"After the necessary checks, a home visit and a pre-adoption talk I was finally able to take him home. He has become the star of the shop, and of course of my home. Now he spends his days getting lots of fuss in the shop and showing off how amazing rescue dogs can be. It is such a joy to have him!”

Dogs Trust Basildon’s Rehoming Centre Manager Lisa Cooper added: “Some things are just meant to be. It was by chance Max went along to our Brentwood charity shop that day and the fact that Violeta was working that day has meant that he was able to steal her heart and find his forever home. We know Max will have the best of lives with her and we are so happy for him!”
