A DRIVER has spoken of her shock and warned others to be on the alert after two young boys pelted a rock at her car and damaged her windscreen.

The 34-year-old, who asked not to be named, was driving along the A120 towards the Galleys Corner roundabout when the stone hit her car.

It had been dropped from the final bridge before the roundabout and when she pulled over to the side of the road she could see two young boys on the bridge above.

She says the damage from the rock meant her windscreen had to be replaced at a cost of around £100 but she believes it could have been much worse.

She said: “I was driving from the Great Notley direction up towards the roundabout by McDonald’s when it hit my windscreen.

“I pulled over straight away because I was just shocked – the man who had been behind me pulled over too to check I was okay.

“Had the object been bigger or had I been travelling any quicker who knows what could have happened?

“There’s just all these variables and it’s frightening to think what might have happened had it come through the windscreen – it could have killed me.”

In September, four cars were damaged when three youngsters with bricks targeted vehicles driving along the A120 near Stisted.

The driver added: “Surely the parents must know where they are and what they’re like.

“I went into McDonald’s afterwards and the staff in there seemed to know who they are – one had blonde hair and the other had darker hair and they were about ten years old.

“Apparently they had been vandalising cars in the car park there but it was 1.30pm on a Tuesday afternoon so they should have been in school.

“I just think people need to be aware that this type of thing can happen and those two need to be caught.”
