FURIOUS residents have started a petition after claiming the company which runs their assisted living complex will begin charging them between £40 and £50 a month extra... to top up for staff salaries.
About 40 people living at Coachman Court, Ashingdon Road, Rochford signed the petition which has been sent to Philip Hammond MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer as well as the prime minister Theresa May.
The residents say they have been asked to pay an extra £40 or £50 per month per home.
Residents believe the cash will go towards paying VAT on staff costs.
They say some residents will find it difficult if not impossible and may need to move.
First Port, the managing agent of the complex, has been contacted for comment.
