Passengers are facing delays and cancellations after a person was hit by a train.
The incident happened on the line between Shenfield and Chelmsford and all lines are blocked.
Greater Anglia trains between Liverpool Street and Braintree, Colchester, Clacton, Ipswich and Norwich are being disrupted.
Alternative routes are available.
Passengers are being advised not to travel between Colchester and Liverpool Street.
On Twitter Greater Anglia said: "We are advising customers not to travel between Liverpool St & Colchester due to a person hit by a train.
"We will inform you at 12:30 if the situation has improved to a level that we can lift this advice. Tickets not used today will be valid tomorrow."
Replacement bus services are being arranged to run between Shenfield and Witham and between Braintree and Witham.
