IT was a “pearl and tie” affair at Foxburrow Grange for a debut of a special film educating professionals on epilepsy.

The Colchester care home rolled out the red carpet for staff and residents who acted in the training video which was produced by Altura Learning.

As one of Foxburrow Grange’s training providers, Altura Learning spent three days filming at the home.

Janice Fenner works in Outlook Care’s learning and development team and was heavily involved in the project. She said: “Epilepsy can be quite daunting, depending on the severity of how it affects the individual.

“The video is about understanding the condition, raising general awareness, helping people to spot the early signs and what, from a support point of view, can be done.

“It’s aimed at people right across the board so those working in elderly services, with people who have learning disabilities, and encompasses people in the mental health sector.

“Within the Altura Learning group there will be thousands of users in the UK able to watch it and the film will be distributed in Australia.”

The screening was special for a further reason as it was also the grand opening of the home’s snazzy cinema room.

Guests were urged to become Hollywood stars especially for the occasion.

Anne Cooper, director of operations at Outlook Care, said: “The afternoon was a very glamorous affair. “Residents dressed up for the premiere and had a wonderful time watching themselves on the big screen.

“We’re thrilled to be involved in this project, helping other professionals to become more aware of this condition and delighted some of the people we support are involved.”
